This is an outstanding book! Ms. Tom, a certified Instructor under Ted Wong, does a beautiful job explaining the scientific approach that Bruce Lee took in his evolution of JKD, and of course, in specific the straight lead. This book contains a wealth of knowledge. Ms Tom's research is meticulous and her depictions make absolute sense.

Most of us are on a limmited budget, so if you are looking to buy one book at a time, start here. In my opinion, Artist of Life pools much of the essence of Bruce Lee's writing and phylosophy. I find myself refering to this book on a regular basis.

Letters of the Dragon Book V of the Bruce Lee Library - also edited by John Little

This book gives you a unique look at Bruce Lee's actual letters. Before there was e-mail, cellular telephones, pagers, or overnight mail. Even telephone calls were not the norm in many parts of the world; the written word was the most common form of communication. I find this book to be a fascinating view of Bruce Lee's world through his eyes.

On Fencing was originally published in 1943 and then republished in 2005. Nadi was an Olympic Champion and modern fencing trailblazer; a great among greats. This book was a part of Bruce Lee's personal library. When delving into the fencing aspects of JKD much can be gleamed from its pages; this book is a must.

Decedents of the Dragon By Paul Bax
|
|
|
|
This book is a collection of interviews conducted by Paul Bax of second generation instructors under original students of Bruce Lee. Sadly, the ranks of Bruce Lee’s original students lessen with the recent passing of Mr. Hartsell; the fact is we will all one day join the founder. This adds to the importance of a book such as this; practitioners of JKD have their personal opinions of what is or is not the art of Jeet Kune Do, but we ALL share equal passion for the same. Your Offense
Your offense should be simple and direct because it may be hard to control.
But against someone who can project a complex attack should be your role.
Timing, the key to a complex attack, must be practiced until you have the knack.
The feint should be just enough to distract and create an opening so you can act.
